Walmart will host its first “Made in the USA” open call event for suppliers

Walmart said Wednesday that it will be hosting it’s first-ever “Made in the USA” Open Call Event on July 8th, in Bentonville, Arkansas.

The move, Walmart said, is part of its commitment to domestic manufacturing and American jobs. The company said that in the next 10 years, it will spend an additional $250 billion on U.S.-made products.

During the event, suppliers will have a chance to meet with senior leaders, buyers and the company’s merchant leadership about products that have the potential to end up on Walmart’s shelves.

Such vendor rooms usually are open by appointment only, so this is the first time that Walmart has put out an open invitation to all suppliers from all communities, the company said. The deadline for an application is June 6.
