Every few days I read one of Marc Caputo’s columns showing what a flip-flopper Charlie Crist is. The more he says it, the more people love him, including this old white guy. Crist reflects, generally, the majority of Florida’s electorate. In fact, we have become more open to weed, the LGBT community and undocumented immigrants.
While the media and the political right attack him for playing the race card, Crist should embrace it, because as the expression goes, if it looks, walks and quacks like a duck, it must be one.
The Republican Party, at least the ones sitting in Tallahassee, is flat-out racist. The blatant attempt to prevent minorities from voting in the 2012 election will happen again.
Caputo recently said independent Crist prevented Kendrick Meek from getting elected, but it was the exact opposite. Political junkie Democrats like me wanted desperately for Meek to drop out of the race because Crist would have defeated Marco Rubio handily had Meek not siphoned off liberal votes in his doomed effort to win a Senate seat.
