Cowboys sign RB Williams

The Sports Network

Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Cowboys signed oft-injured running back Ryan Williams to a contract on Monday.

Williams has only played five games in the NFL since being selected in the second round by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2011 draft.

The former Virginia Tech product missed his entire rookie campaign with a knee injury, and a shoulder injury cut short his 2010 season after he rushed for only 164 yards on 58 carries.

He was inactive for all 16 games last season and released by Arizona last week.

To make room on the roster, the Cowboys waived rookie free agent running back Glasco Martin.
