Miami-Dade police shoot armed man following domestic violence call

Police shot and seriously wounded a man Friday in Northwest Miami-Dade, following a call about a domestic violence incident in a home.

Miami-Dade Police said when they arrived, they were met by an armed man outside a home at 18120 NW 51st Pl. Several officers fired - between three and five, police said - when the man threatened them with his weapon.

The man, whose name wasn’t released, was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauama Center. Police said the man didn’t fire his weapon, but a gun was found on the ground near him. Police said the gun was damaged.
