Padres OF Smith earns NL weekly honors

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - San Diego Padres outfielder Seth Smith was named the National League Player of the Week for the period ending May 11.

Smith led the majors with a .500 batting average and topped the senior circuit with 14 hits in seven games last week.

Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki, Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen and Chicago's Jeff Samardzija were among the other players who had standout performances.
