Going down! Drama in the elevator between Jay Z and Solange Knowles

What exactly did Jay Z do or say to elicit a violent response from his sister in law? TMZ was the first outlet to release grainy surveillance videotape of Solange Knowles lunging and kicking at the rapper, who is married to her sister Beyonce. The pop star was also in the confined space next to her famous hubby at the Standard Hotel in NYC when the fight went down after the Met Gala last week but did little to break up the fracas.

OK, we’ll likely never know what went down between the two of them (did he insult her weight? her career?) but many are speculating with the Twitter hashtag: #WhatJayZSaidToSolange. When they left the lift, all were composed for cameras, but perhaps somewhat tellingly, the siblings got into one car together while Jay Z left by his lonesome, seemingly dabbing at his lip. Blood? Oy vey. Such problems!

Big news

Big and beautiful: David Hasselhoff’s plus size model daughter, Hayley, put her curves on display as she walked the runway in the Pulp show in Paris over the weekend. Hayley, 21, posted a few glamazonian pics on Instagram. Mom is actress Pamela Bach.

Not fit for print

The newspaper business isn’t for everyone. And it’s not looking as if it’s the right fit for Pippa Middleton, who was axed from her position as a lifestyle columnist at the Daily Telegraph. The younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, 30, wrote about such topics as cooking and entertaining. A source told the UK’s Express that Pippa’s writing wasn’t the greatest, a bit on the “boring” side.

Who’s that guy?

No names, please. But if you do the math you can pretty much suss out to whom Jennifer Esposito was referring when describing a guy from her past in her book, Jennifer’s Way, as “smart, cocky, arrogant and a master manipulator.” Um, Bradley Cooper, perhaps? Esposito, who was briefly married to the Hangover hunk, from December 2006 until May 2007, is now happily engaged to Kate Winslet’s ex, model Louis Dowler. She sure does like ’em pretty.

Marrying man

The reality is closing in. George Clooney is getting married to Beirut-born human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin. More proof: An engagement party Sunday, thrown at Cafe Habana in Malibu, owned by Clooney’s business partner Rande Gerber and wife Cindy Crawford. Guests included Bono, who reportedly did karaoke. “People got a show they didn’t expect, and other [patrons] said it was the best Mother’s Day ever,” an insider told E! News. The next step? Clooney is reportedly shopping around for a home in the London area and setting the date. A family friend told MailOnline they will tie the knot in September, the first anniversary of when they first met.

School days

Sean Combs is getting scholarly with it. The music mogul received an honorary doctorate from Howard University in Washington, D.C. on Saturday. Combs attended the school before earning his bachelor’s degree, but no one can say things haven’t worked out.

Over in Winter Park on Saturday, Elin Nordegren was named the 2014 Outstanding Graduating Senior by Rollins College, and many heard the former nanny’s voice for the first time when she spoke at the commencement. The video’s on You Tube. www.youtube.com/watch?v=niffD5G0-6I

Playing house

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are pretty serious. The X-Men: Days of Future Past actress referred to her costar as “a great roommate.” So much for those breakup rumors.
