Is pop star Justin Bieber being a jerk for business purposes?
That’s what Aventura lawyer Mark DiCowden wants to find out Thursday when he travels to Los Angeles to grill Scooter Braun, Bieber’s manager, about the business decisions involving the singer.
DiCowden represents Miami Beach celebrity photographer Jeffery Binion, who is suing Bieber for millions. Binion claims Bieber sicced his bodyguards on him a year ago outside the Hit Factory in Miami.
What does Scooter Braun have to do with it?
“I’d like to know more about the kind of management advice that Bieber is getting,” DiCowden said. “We’re talking about dozens of incidents in the past couple years.”
Braun has claimed in interviews that he’s been telling Bieber to cool it.
But DiCowden says the question is a fair one.
“Was there a decision made in Bieber’s entourage that he needed to appear to be aggressive with those around him? DiCowden said. “Was Justin Bieber told to live out the thug lifestyle to get away from the pretty teenager image?
“That would explain a lot of things.”
DiCowden’s grilling of Bieber in February at the downtown Miami offices of lawyer Roy Black made worldwide news because of Bieber’s hi-jinx, including his appearing to fall asleep and yelling at a hapless court reporter. Braun, who also discovered Carly Rae Jepsen and manages Cody Simpson, is expected to be questioned for several hours.
Real Housewives of Miami’s Alexia Echevarria and husband Herman have finally settled a 2-year-old federal tax lien.
According to federal records, advertising’s power couple are all paid up for unpaid taxes going back to 2009.
The IRS, according to papers filed with Miami-Dade County, claimed they scrimped on their income tax payments by a total $94,078.44.
According to records, they sent a check in April, and the lien on their $1.2 million home has been cleared.
Taxes, meanwhile, are also why the state of Florida has filed a claim against Sue Cassidy, estranged wife of troubled former teen heartthrob David Cassidy.
Sue lives in Fort Lauderdale while her soon-to-be-ex hubby, star of The Partridge Family, is taking care of a nasty drinking problem that cost him three DUI arrests in three years.
She has just been asked by the state’s revenue czars to pony up $615.26 in re-employment taxes.
a fresh start?
Speaking of high-profile ladies, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dana Wilkey is making a fresh start of it in Miami Beach.
On RHOBH Wilkey, 39, the mother of a boy, was known as a social climbing party planner who often discussed her love for booze — and displayed it, too.
Gossip Extra was told she’s living in a fancy condo at Portofino Tower and trying to stay below the radar.
Sorta: The shapely reality star started popping up in society here with a new boyfriend, Miami Beach/Ireland resident Philip Marley, a rich entrepreneur.
