The Sports Network

Los Angeles, CA ( - Bermane Stiverne defeated Chris Arreola in the sixth round to claim the vacant WBC heavyweight title belt on Saturday night.

Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) put Arreola (36-4) on the mat twice, and was showering him with punches later in the round before referee Jack Reiss put an end to the fight with 58 seconds left in the round.

It was Arreola's (36-4) second chance at this title, as he was defeated by Vitali Klitschko in 2009.

This title was made vacant when Klitschko retired to take part in Ukrainian politics last December.
