Padres' Headley comes off DL

The Sports Network

San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Diego Padres activated third baseman Chase Headley from the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins.

Headley had been sidelined since April 24 by a strained right calf that also forced him to miss a majority of spring training. The 2012 National League RBI champion has hit just .186 with two home runs and seven RBI in 20 games this season.

Pitcher Kevin Quackenbush was optioned to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.

Quackenbush made a pair of relief appearances in two separate stints with the Padres this season, allowing two runs over a combined 2 2/3 innings.
