As the medical marijuana industry heats up, the Florida Medical Marijuana Treatment Center Institute, a medical marijuana training and business institute, has opened in Miami.

The Florida MMTC Institute, co-founded by Daniel Curtis and Jan Frel, has scheduled seminars for May and June at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts. The seminars, which will be ongoing, will cover various topics, featuring experts from around the country, Frel said.

Florida could become the 22nd state to legalize medical marijuana, after legislators in Tallahassee passed a bill to allow low-THC marijuana to be used for medical purposes. In November, residents will vote on Amendment 2, a comprehensive medical marijuana law.
