Fred Grimm’s May 6 column, Florida kid drownings almost an epidemic but nobody seems to care, is so right. I recently said to my niece, who has a 3-year-old daughter, that she should have swimming lessons as soon as possible.
Florida has more child deaths due to drowning than any other state. I think swimming lessons should be required in our state for children since some parents seem to find other activities more important than their children.
My heart aches for the loss of these children.
