Re the April 27 Other Views Mirta Ojito column, It will probably happen again: The solution to resolve the undocumented worker problem seems so simple to me. If all undocumented workers stopped working for one month —leaving their jobs in nursing homes, childcare centers, domestic work, crop fields and butchering plants — the American public would quickly find that no one will rush to fill these jobs.
Professional men and women would then be forced to quit their jobs in order to take care of their children and parents and go to the fields to pick fruits and vegetables in order to feed their families. I assure you immigration reform would be resolved in one week if this happened.
