Hawaii: Three-day Ukulele Picnic celebrates iconic instrument

As Hawaii looks to make the ukulele its state instrument, promoters are hard at work preparing for an annual event celebrating it. Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii will include three main events: a fundraising concert on May 23, an international ukulele contest on May 24, and the grand finale, the Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii on May 25, at Honolulu’s Kakaako Waterfront Park. Well-known ukulele players from Hawaii, Japan and across the world will converge to make music along Oahu’s south shore until sunset.
