Six guns turned in at Miami police buyback

A Miami Police Department event aimed at getting firearms off the streets netted six guns, according to police.

Saturday's gun buyback at the Little Haiti Soccer Park gave people a chance to exchange firearms for gift cards.

In total, three shotguns, two rifles and one handgun were turned in. The gift cards, for places including Target and Publix, ranged in value from $25 to $200, depending on the type of gun.

In December, Miami police held a similar event and collected 79 firearms.
