I cannot say enough good things about my local library. My family and I go every week and are greeted by librarians who are invariably knowledgeable and helpful. They bend over backwards to offer fun, but educational programs for the children of our community — all free of charge — designed to give them a love of learning. Many people rely on our library system not only as a source of books and movies, but as a place to do homework and use the Internet.
If we can make room in South Florida for gambling and soccer, surely we can find the resources to keep our libraries open and pay our librarians a fair salary. I would gladly pay a bit more on my taxes.
