I enjoyed the April 26 Other Views article The USS Miami made history. I had the pleasure of meeting its first commanding officer in 1991 at a rotary club meeting on Key Biscayne.
I remember the escape training tank like it was yesterday.
I served on two submarines, the USS Triton (SSN586) and the USS Carp (SS338), in the early 1960s. I wonder what happened to the person who started the fire — did he go to jail? Don Slesnick and Alberto Dosal wrote a great article and I thank them for their accurate reporting on some nostalgic memories.
