Florida small business owners have a more positive outlook than national counterparts but a larger percentage say their business is sinking

Florida business owners have a more positive outlook for their business prospects for the next six months compared to business owners in the South and nationwide, according to American Express OPEN’s the 2014 Small Business Monitor. The survey showed that 59 percent of small business owners in Florida have a positive view, compared to 55 percent in the South and 54 percent nationwide.

However, 22 percent of Florida small business owners said that their business is a “sinking ship,” compared to 13 percent in both the South and nationwide.

The American Express OPEN Small Business Monitor, released each spring and fall since 2002, is based on a nationally representative sample of small business owners/managers of companies with fewer than 100 employees.
