Ultra announces retiring Miami Beach Police Chief Ray Martinez as new security director



Ultra Music Festival organizers announced on Friday that soon to be retired Miami Beach police chief Raymond Martinez will become security director for annual electronic music event in downtown Miami.

Miami city leaders threatened to oust Ultra after crowds at this year's festival stormed a fence, trampling a security guard and leaving her with life-threatening injuries.

In March, Martinez announced he would retire early. His departure comes at a time of political and administrative changes in the Beach.
