Wells Fargo names new regional president for South Florida

Wells Fargo & Co. said Thursday that it has named José “Joe” Atkinson regional president for its South Florida region, which includes the counties of Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe.

Based in Miami, he will be responsible for 147 branches and more than 2,400 employees, the bank said.

A 30-year veteran with Wells Fargo, Atkinson most recently served as area president for the Greater Georgia region, where he was responsible for 41 branches and more than 500 employees.

Atkinson succeeds former South Florida Regional President Frank Newman who was named Lead Region President for the Rocky Mountain Region, including Colorado, Montana and Wyoming.
