Twin toddlers died Tuesday night after they were found floating in an apartment complex pool in Deerfield Beach.
Witnesses pulled the girls out of the pool at the Tivoli Park complex in the 700 block of Siesta Key and began performing CPR, said Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles.
Rescue workers arrived at the complex at 6:25 p.m. and began “aggressively trying to resuscitate” the toddlers.
The girls were then taken to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale in critical condition. They later died.
Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion told the Sun Sentinel the girls had somehow gotten out of their apartment and made their way to the pool, where the lock to the gate was broken.
This is the second drowning in a month involving twin toddlers falling into a pool. In March, a brother and sister fell into an apartment complex pool in Sunrise. The girl died a few days later.
