Re Leonard Pitts’ April 2 Other View column, The true face of poverty in America: Shanesha Taylor's situation is truly a tragedy. However, the root of her problem lies in a culture where it is okay to have a two-year-old and a six-month-old baby with no father to support the children. Unless she was raped, it was her decision to have these children. Who did she think was going to feed, house and take care of them? A culture where baby daddies and the women they impregnate cannot or will not support these children lacks personal responsibility and therein lies the problem. And, if you claim this is code language for racial bias, you only perpetuate the problem.
