United States Rep. Paul Ryan has presented a budget that cuts $5 trillion over the next ten years. This includes steep cuts to Medicaid and food stamps as well as a total repeal of the Affordable Care Act that over 7 million Americans have already signed up for. Medicare recipients would buy insurance from private companies instead of government paid health care and Social Security would be privatized and benefits reduced. Sounds like a winning proposition – for the Democrats – in November!
