TEAMS OF THE WEEK

The Killian baseball team won the championship of the Hall of Fame Spring Break Classic. Keith Stevens took home tournament MVP honors and pitcher Mikhail Cumill earned the tournament’s Cy Young award.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Joe Dunand, Gulliver, baseball: Dunand hit an amazing nine home runs and went 10 for 12 at the plate in five games for the Raiders at the Horizon National Tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Anthony Alvarez, Braddock, baseball: Alvarez went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI to lead the Bulldogs to a win over Hialeah Gardens and the South Broward Invitational title.

Erick Lopez, Southridge, baseball: Lopez struck out seven in a complete game win over Miami High that secured the Spartans the championship of the Luis Brande Spring Break Classic.

Gabbee Draney, Gulliver, softball: Draney struck out nine and went 2 for 3 with a double to lead the Raiders to a 2-0 win against Palm Beach Gardens.

Humberto Freire, Alex Gonzalez, Antonio Arzola, Connor Gonzalez, Jorge Areces, Columbus, boys’ track and field: All five runners were involved in helping the Explorers win both the 3,200-meter and distance medley relays and the team title at the Miramar Relays.

Kessiah Lozin, Kendia Williams, Remy Addison and Jada Johnson, Carol City, girls’ track and field: The Chiefs’ 400-meter relay team won in 49.17 at the Miramar Relays edging Plantation American Heritage.

Andres Perez, Belen, boys’ volleyball: Perez led the Wolverines with 14 kills, four blocks and five aces in a win against Greater Miami Academy.

Roman Gonzalez went 3 for 2 with four RBI and a homerun to lead the American baseball team to an 11-1 victory over Goleman on Monday afternoon.

American pitcher Ronald Williams earned the win. Steven Alvarez went 3 for 2 and had an RBI. Edison Cabrera also went 3 for 2 with two RBI.

The Patriots (14-3) will host North Miami Beach at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
