I’m amazed that the Republicans decided to back away from full funding of Senate Bill 2124, modifying the contribution made to the IMF, and thus giving less aid to Ukraine. The memories return of the 1991 “Chicken Kiev” speech of then-President Bush admonishing Ukrainians not to break away from the Soviet Union. Later in 2008 during the Georgian invasion by Russia, the younger President Bush promised sanctions for Russia’s aggression with no real support. By not giving full financial and military support, we are destabilizing Ukraine, as well as losing credibility in the world.
