I had a good laugh reading the March 22 article A wake-up call on cost of breakfast. Have you only now noticed? I have stopped buying bacon because it has doubled in price in the last two years. Almost everything has.
Tell me where you shop and I’ll go there.
Now, potatoes are bagged in four-pound bags and sold at the same price as five-pound bags used to cost. There are all sorts of schemes being used by the supermarkets to extract more of our money while giving us less.
But what can we do? The president tries to do something to increase wages and is criticized by the Republicans who proclaim that any wage increase would cripple employers whose aim is to increase their profits every year while workers struggle. Now, all that low-income people have to look forward to is the possibility of the Republicans taking over the government in November. God help us if this happens.
