South Beach (particularly Lincoln Road) is becoming hazardous for pedestrians. Restaurant tables are taking more and more of the walkways that are shared by pedestrians, bicycles, skateboards and Segways. This week, while I walked on Lincoln Road, a skateboard flew through the air, striking and cutting my leg. With my leg bleeding, I tried to locate an on-duty police. There was none to be found. To make matters worse, the skateboarder was arrogant and unapologetic, going so far as telling me it was my fault for not watching out for him.
It’s a sad day when pedestrians cannot walk safely on walkways.
