Reina Ponce will be the Miami Herald Media Company’s new chief financial officer and vice president of finance, Publisher David Landsberg announced Friday.

Ponce, 41, succeeds Susan Rosenthal, who resigned to become vice president of business and finance at Barry University.

Ponce joined MHMC in 2005, as budgeting and planning manager. She was promoted to director of finance in 2006.

Prior to joining the Herald, Reina served as controller of North American operations at Del Monte Fresh Produce, and she was an audit manager at Ernst & Young. Ponce is a certified public accountant, and has a master’s degree in taxation as well as a bachelor’s degree in accounting, both from Florida International University.
