American Heritage girls’ tennis team routs Archbishop McCarthy

Daeshon Gordon won the 100 hurdles (13.81) and 300 hurdles (43.66) and Camora Sanders won the shot put (41-5.50) and discus (135-4) to lead the Northeast girls’ track team to its first Miramar Invitational title.


Eric Hepple, Coral Springs Christian, baseball: Hepple struck out 10 in six innings to earn a 5-0 victory over Highlands Christian.

Bella Cagnana, Deerfield Beach, girls’ water polo: Cagnana had four goals to lead the Bucks (4-1) over Cypress Bay 6-5.

Andre Evers, Piper, boys’ track: Evers pulled off a rare sweep of the 100 (10.49, U.S. No. 2) and 200 (21.40, U.S. No. 2) at the Miramar Invitational.

Paige Lokeinsky, Cooper City, softball: Lokeinsky threw a complete game, struck out 12 and had two RBI to lead the Cowboys over Coral Springs Charter 10-3.

Steven Garay, South Broward, boys’ volleyball: Garay had 23 kills, 14 points and 20 digs to lead the Bulldogs past Monarch in four sets.

Kimani Rushing, Hallandale, girls’ track: The sophomore set personal bests to win the 110 hurdles in a personal-best 13.87 (U.S. No. 2), the 300 hurdles in a personal-best 42.80 (U.S. No. 4) and the triple jump (39-3, U.S. No. 1) at the Hallandale Invitational.

Brian Gonzalez and Eddie Silva, Archbishop McCarthy, baseball: Gonzalez (4-0) struck out nine and allowed two hits in five innings for the victory and Eddie Silva added two solo home runs to lead the MaxPreps Excellent 25 No. 9 Mavericks (9-1) over District 16-5A rival American Heritage 5-0.

A.J. Martin, Cardinal Gibbons, boys’ water polo: Martin had nine goals to lead the Chiefs (6-0) over Northeast 18-8.

McKenna Delaware, South Plantation, softball: Delaware went 4 for 4 with two RBI and three runs to lead the Paladins over Douglas 7-1.

Brandon Bejarano, Westminster Academy, boys’ track: Berano won the 1,600 and 3,200 and led the Lions’ 1,600 relay team to third place at the Hallandale Invitational.

Mariano Pennini, Taravella, boys’ volleyball: Pennini had 17 kills and three aces to lead the Trojans over Everglades in three sets.

Julia Montgomery, Pine Crest, girls’ track: Montgomery won the 1,600 and 3200 and led the winning 3,200 relay team to help the Panthers defends its Dade Christian Invitational team title.

Jaylin Jurich, Calvary Christian, softball: Jurich went 4 for 4 with a home run and two RBI to lead the Eagles over Pine Crest 15-8.

Phillip Lee, Boyd Anderson, boys’ track: Lee won the high jump (6-4) and the triple jump (43-6) at the Hallandale Invitational.

Chandler Cissel, Pine Crest, baseball: Cissel went 2 for 4 with two RBI to lead the Panthers over Chaminade 9-4.

Kaytlyn Morrow, Flanagan, softball: Morrow went 3 for 4 with two doubles, three runs and four RBI to lead the Falcons over South Broward 14-8.

Melquin Duncan, Coconut Creek, boys’ track: Duncan won the 110 hurdles (15.30) and finished second in the long jump and triple jump at the Miramar Invitational.

The American Heritage girls’ tennis team dominated Archbishop McCarthy with a 6-1 win on Monday afternoon.

In singles, Aleksi Gottlieb won 8-3 for the Patriots. Annabella Bowen defeated Gloria Cabrero 8-5 to come in second place. Isabella Chinchilla defeated Antonella Castillo 8-6, to grab third.

In doubles, Aleksi Gottlieb and Annabella Bowen teamed up to leave Kelsey Berman and Antonella Castillo scoreless in a 8-0 match. Gloria Cabrero and Paola Gonzalez scored the Mavericks only point in a 8-3 match.
