Call for charges in street artist Israel ‘Reefa‘ Hernandez-Llach‘s death

Members of the Justice for Reefa Committe, headed by spokesman Jorge Estomba, rallied Monday outside the office of the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. A medical report released last week found that street artist Israel "Reefa" Hernandez-Llach died of heart failure after being shot with a stun gun by Miami Beach police officer Jorge Mercado in August after a chase. The group is pushing for the Mercado’s arrest. A State Attorney's spokesman said Monday that the office is continuing its investigation and still needs all the Miami Beach police report before it can decide whether any laws were broken in the arrest of the 18-year-old.
