A man who held police at bay for hours Sunday was wounded during the stand off in Northeast Miami-Dade.
Police said the incident began when they received a call from a neighbor reporting a fight at a residence at Northeast 202nd Terrace and 14th Avenue.
Arriving units were met by a family member of Antonio Cardoza, 25, who said he was acting bizarre and had a firearm.Police then heard windows smashing.
Cardoza allegedly shouted out to police he would shoot anyone who came any closer to the house.
A Miami-Dade Police Special Response Team (SRT) and negotiators were called to the scene.
After several hours of trying to make contact with Cardoza, gas grenades were launched inside the house.
Police said Cardoza confronted one of the SRT officers and exchanged gunfire.
Cardoza then went back into the house.
SRT finally went into the home and found Cardoza wounded.
He was rushed to Ryder Trauma Center. He is in stable condition.
