Miami’s retail landscape is exploding, developer Jeff Berkowitz tells attendees at Akerman conference

Miami’s retail-related real estate landscape is booming, Jeff Berkowitz, founder and president of Berkowitz Development Group, told attendees at the Akerman U.S. Real Estate Summit on Friday.

“Miami is exploding, and is one of the most dynamic cities in the country today,” Berkowitz said, during a panel discussion on retail at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Miami. “On the luxury side, things are absolutely booming.” he said, citing projects underway like Brickell City Centre and the Design District’s transformation.

“It’s a great city now and it’s going to be a world class, iconic city in the next five years,” he said.

Among his own projects, Berkowitz is planning a 1,000-foot-high SkyRise Miami, an open-sided observation and entertainment tower behind Bayside Marketplace. “It’s going to be and will be Miami’s Eiffel Tower,” he said.
