A Florida health insurer and a grocery-pharmacy chain earned spots this week on J.D. Power’s list of 50 U.S. companies with outstanding customer service.

Miami-based AvMed Health Plans and Lakeland-based Publix Super Markets received among the highest marks from consumers out of more than 600 evaluated brands in nine industries. The J.D. Power Customer Champions survey is based on feedback in five categories: people, presentation, price, process and product.

“The market is validating our strategy built on service excellence and member-focused operations,” James Repp, AvMed senior vice president, said in a statement.

AvMed provides health insurance coverage to more than 300,000 Floridians. Publix employs about 166,000 people at nearly 1,100 stores in Florida and other Southeast states.
