Roads to be closed during Calle Ocho street festival

Beginning 11:30 p.m. Saturday, police will close eastbound traffic on Southwest Eighth Street from Seventh to 27th avenues. Traffic traveling east on Eighth Street will be detoured north or south on 27th Avenue.

Miami-Dade Transit buses traveling along Calle Ocho will also be detoured.

Southwest Seventh Street will remain open for motorists traveling west until Eighth Avenue, where they will be detoured north.

Residents living in the area will be allowed access to Southwest Seventh Street on the north side or on the south side of Southwest Ninth Street.

Police encourage drivers to take alternate routes and will provide assistance along the way.

Calle Ocho will reopen for regular traffic by 5 a.m. Monday.
