The transit improvements mentioned in the Feb. 26 letter Looking forward to better transportation are nothing more than cosmetic appeasements.
It’s easy to ignore the voices in the community when you don’t agree with what they have to say, even when those voices are the transit riders. If what the future holds is more of the director’s excuse-making and posturing, then we can all share the blame for not demanding leaders who lead and work to push a balanced transportation agenda forward.
The 95 express buses and the orange line to the airport, both cater to professional-class commuters and/or visitors. I’m not sure how these affect the great majority of transit riders in this county.
Even the Golden and Patriot Passport programs, while laudable in their sentiment, undermine a significant share of transit revenue.
The same goes for the Metromover and the rash of free trolleys that have popped up everywhere. Continuing to subsidize these systems with PTP funds is not sustainable.
