What to do before a wedding to give you that glow

Q: My daughter is getting married in six months. Her future mother-in-law is absolutely beautiful and I want to make sure that I look good for her wedding. What are my options, both surgical and nonsurgical?

A: The good news is that you gave me a fair amount of time. If you do need surgery, you will have time to recover and still look good for the wedding.

I will assume that if you have a daughter who's getting married, you probably will need your eyes done if they concern you. If you do need your eyes done, the surgery takes approximately 1 1/2 half hours to do. This would include the upper and lower eyelids. Generally speaking, recovery takes about a week but I tell patients that if they do have a wedding, they should give themselves about one month. If you were really skittish, I would give yourself six weeks prior to the wedding.

I strongly encourage you to either do the surgery very early if all the wedding plans are complete, that way your daughter will continue to think that the most important person in the wedding is her! If you need more surgery such as a facelift, I tell patients that they should give themselves six weeks.

Approximately one or two months before the wedding I like to treat patients with injectables such as Botox, Dysport, Juvéderm, Perlane, Restylane. This will allow you to get a great result with some time for modification approximately four weeks prior to the wedding. A Hydra facial or micro-infused oxygen facial (MIO FACIAL) would also help approximately two weeks prior to the wedding to make your skin glow and look beautiful.

Online reviews are only one tool in choosing a doctor

    Q. I’m planning to have surgery with a surgeon whom I met and really liked. My friends told me he was great, and a lot of people have substantiated that. When I started to do research, I did find one or two reviews online that were not flattering. What is your suggestion with this, and should I let him operate on me?

There’s more than one way to correct droopy brows

    Q. I went to see a doctor because I thought my brows were very droopy. I have a very big forehead and he told me the only way he could do that surgery was an endoscopic forehead lift. I'm worried because even though I told him about my concerns of my large forehead he told me that there was no other way to do it. Can you tell me if that's true and what my options are?

Dr. Carlos Wolf: Are you ever too old for plastic surgery?

    Q. I am nearing 74 years of age and am thinking of having some plastic surgery. I know that you and probably lots of my family think I must be crazy, but I feel much younger than I look. What do you think? Quite frankly, I’m tired of all those fillers, and I’d like something more permanent!
