A woman apparently drowned in a backyard pool in Sunrise Sunday afternoon, according to police.

A call came in at 4:30 p.m. from a family member who found Leonor Martinez Espana, 55, in a pool on the 2100 block of Sunset Strip in Sunrise, according to police spokeswoman Cindi McCue.

“It appears to be a drowning. It does not appear to be anything more,” said McCue.

The family member attempted CPR. When rescue arrived, Martinez Espana was pronounced dead at the scene.

McCue said there were no obvious signs of foul play, and an autopsy is pending.
