Simon Tsaoussis of Christopher Columbus Senior High School has been selected to compete in the State Science Fair and the International Science Fair with his patented project, Two Transistor Ternary Random Access Memory. His invention aims to speed up computers by about 5,000 percent.
Simon recently competed at the South Florida Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Miami Dade College. He received the Intel Excellence in Computer Science Award, Award for Most Outstanding Exhibit in Material Science and United States Naval Academy Award.
Simon is president and founder of the Aerospace Club.
Hamilton College student Gretha Suarez, a world politics major, will participate in the Hamilton College Program in Washington, D.C.
The program includes both academic study and experience in national government. Suarez will conduct research and attend two seminars while working full time in executive offices.
ST. BRENDAN CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Sarah Artiles, Marissa Flores, Vicki Popp, Michelle Slebi and Alison Martin of St. Brendan Catholic High School participated in the Florida Financial History contest. This contest quizzes students on the history of Florida through essay, video, drawing or coloring contest entries.
Sarah, Marissa, Vicki and Michelle placed first in the video contest and won $250. Alison placed second in the video contest and won $150.

Riviera Preparatory School recently announced the Gold and Silver Honor Roll students for the second quarter of the 2013-14 school year.
The Gold Honor Roll students are Erika Arvelo, Alexis Diaz, Alexis Johnston, Renata Peralta, Daniel Perez, Joshua Stotzky, Mariana Suarez, Alea Delmastro, Maniel Guerra, Victoria Basnuevo and Shelby Onabowale.
The Silver Honor Roll students are Bianca Glatzer, Ann and John Gottenger, Victoria Smith, Bruna Giampietro, Nicole Leon-Molina, Kevin Ramos and Carlos Vaca.

Raymond Bennett, Johanna Dezeme and Teofilo Morales of Coral Reef Senior High School are recipients of the 2014 National Achievement Scholarships. These students are in the International Baccalaureate Academy and were chosen because they scored high on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
