Winston-Salem, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ian Miller tallied 25 points, hitting 5-of-7 from 3-point range, to lead the Florida State Seminoles past the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 67-60, in an Atlantic Coast Conference clash at Joel Coliseum.
Aaron Thomas notched a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds for Florida State (15-10, 6-7 ACC). Boris Bojanovsky came off the bench and recorded six blocked shots in the win, which snapped a two-game losing streak for the Seminoles.
Coron Williams netted 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting for Wake Forest (14-11, 4-8). Both Tyler Cavanaugh and Travis McKie chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds in the loss. The Deacons have dropped five consecutive contests.
Wake Forest connected on 41.7 percent of its shots in the first half and took a 29-23 lead into the locker room at the midway point. Florida State shot a dismal 26.9 percent from the floor, and went 2-of-12 from 3-point range.
The second half is when the Seminoles exploded. They hit 64 percent of their field goal tries in the period, and connected on 9-of-12 from the free-throw line. The Demon Deacons dropped their shooting percentage down to 34.5 percent from field, and hit just 2-of-11 from 3-point range.
Florida State outscored Wake Forest in points in the paint, 32-18, and had the edge in rebounding, 41-27. The Deacons had the advantage in points off turnovers, 21-9.
