I don’t blame Ana Rivas Logan for leaving the Republican Party. I was a Republican for 15 years before becoming an independent in 2011; I could no longer vote for a party that tolerated “birther” rhetoric directed at President Obama, denied climate-change science and genuflected to libertarian billionaires.
The GOP must get its act together if it wants to be a viable party. It must stop with right-wing purity tests and blind worship of media pundits. It must embrace market-based solutions to deal with human-caused climate change, instead of peddling the idiotic idea that the evidence of carbon pollution is a hoax. For the sake of this country, the GOP must return to sanity soon.
