Residents of South Florida who want to enroll in TSA PreCheck — a program that allows them to use expedited security lines at the airport — can do so now.
A Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman said enrollment centers in Miami and Fort Lauderdale have both recently started processing travelers who want to join the program. The Miami location is at 1001 North America Way, Suite 111 near PortMiami headquarters. In Fort Lauderdale, the enrollment center is at the Comfort Suites Airport & Cruise Port at 1800 S Federal Highway.
The cost is $85 for five years. Those who wish to join must enroll in person and provide valid photo identification, proof of citizenship and fingerprints. More information about requirements and locations is available at https://universalenroll.dhs.gov/.
Previously, travelers could only participate if they were invited by airlines or belonged to U.S. Customs and Border Protection trusted traveler programs.
