Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Buffalo Sabres placed forward Linus Omark on waivers Friday.

The club acquired Omark from the Edmonton Oilers on Dec. 19 for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in 2014.

Omark was leading the AHL's Oklahoma City Barons in goals (14) and assists (15) at the time of the trade, but has totaled just two assists in 13 games with the worst club in the NHL.

In addition, the Sabres assigned forward Phil Varone and defenseman Chad Ruhwedel to Rochester of the American Hockey League.
