Nadal withdraws from Buenos Aires event

Buenos Aires, Argentina (SportsNetwork.com) - Rafael Nadal pulled out of next week's Copa Claro tennis event.

Nadal, who made his announcement on Twitter on Thursday, sustained a back injury in his Australian Open championship match loss against Stan Wawrinka two weeks ago, but said a stomach virus derailed his preparation for Buenos Aires and was the reason for his withdrawal.

The world No. 1 star is the reigning U.S. and French Open champion.
