The 24-seat dining room is uninviting, but the 50-seat terrace is glorious at Serafina Waterfront Trattoria on the Middle River. The big menu, executed by one chef from Northern Italy and another from Southern Italy, leans toward the traditional.
Meatballs ($9) have an almost creamy texture, and are served with fresh, bright tomato sauce. A generous portion of imported burrata ($20) comes with lean slivers of prosciutto de Parma and sliced tomatoes drizzled with olive oil. Tuna tartare ($14) starts with sushi-grade tuna that is marinated in sesame oil and served over a bed of thinly sliced avocados. Every table receives a complimentary serving of bruschetta.
