I can understand enlisted military personnel, military generals, firefighters and police officers making the top 10 on the list of most stressful jobs.
But what happened to air-traffic controllers and teachers — especially teachers? Again, most people fail to recognize the tremendous pressure teachers have in their profession because of state testing, lack of fair compensation, lack of parental support and, especially, the lack of discipline and safety within the classroom.
I once read a report that listed teachers’ jobs as comparable to being in a trench during war time. I have always thought that it is a reasonable analogy, especially when dealing with 25 to 40 students’ needs, wants and requirements seven and a half hours a day. We teachers, at least, should be included in the top 10!
