The Jan. 24 editorial, Scrooge in Tallahassee, failed to recognize that businesses expand and create jobs when demand for their products or services increases, not because their profits are higher due to lower taxes or lower employee salaries. Demand for products and services increases when customers have more money to spend. This is Keynesian economics, despised by conservatives, but the economy would grow faster if income for the middle and lower classes increased. They are the customers businesses need to grow.
