Fred Grimm’s Jan. 26 column, A call for fair rates of flood insurance, is generous with other people’s money.
Justifying having the government subsidize insurance rates because it already subsidizes corn prices is a lame argument.
I am a homeowner who thinks that we should pay the fair cost for insurance. Insurance subsidies put people in harm’s way by allowing more of them to afford the cost of living in flood-prone zones or allowing local government to avoid the cost of flood-mitigation efforts.
Market prices work.
