PICS: Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro meets with Argentinian president

Photographs of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro meeting Sunday with visiting Argentine President Cristina Fernandez were released on Monday.

Local media reported that Castro lunched with Fernandez, who is in Havana to attend the 2nd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), scheduled for Jan. 28-29.

“After exchanging warm greetings, the South American head of state and Cuban leader discussed topics of regional interest, particularly the main problems facing humanity, food and the various armed conflicts that threaten peace on the planet,” the state-run Cubadebate website said.

An earlier version of this story contained an old story about Fernandez’s previous visit to Cuba.
