Cost of first-class stamp goes up Sunday

Beginning Sunday, it’s going to cost you more to mail a letter.

On January 26th, the U.S. Postal Service increased the price for a first-class stamp from 46 cents to 49 cents.

Officials said the price hike will help the postal service recover from a severe decrease in mail as more people use email and social media.

The postal service delivers to more than 152 million homes, businesses and post office boxes in every state, city, town and borough in this country. Last year they processed approximately 160 billion pieces of mail.
