Belen soccer advances to district final

 

The Belen boys’ soccer team defeated TERRA 3-0 to win the District 16-4A semifinals Wednesday afternoon.

Francisco De La Camara, Marcello Hernandez, and Jose Vicente Sanchiz each scored a goal for the Wolverines. Alvaro Mejer had an assist and goalie Gabriel Lopez had the shutout.

The Wolverines (15-2-2) host Mater on 4 p.m. Friday for the district final.

•  Coral Gables 3, Reagan 2: Senior Michael Hernandez led Coral Gables with a goal and an assist for the victory against Ronald Reagan in the District 15-5A semifinal. Junior Arturo Barahona and senior Tomas Perez-Lima scored a goal each. The Cavaliers face Columbus in the districts final 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Field.

•  Sunset 2, Southdade 0: David Villegas registered his 12th shutout of the season for the Sunset Knights in their victory over South Dade in the district 16-5A semifinals. Jonathan Diaz and Sebastian Espinoza chipped in the two goals for the Knights. Sunset (12-3-5) next plays Varela at 7 p .m. Friday in the final.
