I thank the Herald for Fred Grimm’s Jan. 2 column, Sneaky cyber criminals stealing our credit-card numbers and our peace of mind, regarding a Windows and Microsoft scam.
I received three calls from people wanting to help me fix the viruses in my computer. During the third call, I pretended to be at my computer and pretended to follow the person’s instruction. When he asked, “What do you see,” I said: “I see that you and I know that this is the biggest scam ever.”
No one from Windows will ever call me to fix anything. The person immediately hung up. I don’t know if I would have been this alert had it not been for Grimm’s column.
